Seven new Bold Ones

Seven new manufacturers were on Monday recognised for their use of natural resources, tax compliance and labour market impact in the National Bakery 2016 Bold Ones of Manufacturing initiative.

The event, now in its sixth staging, lauded manufacturers Coldbush Organics Ltd producer of Mt Pleasant Farm chocolate and cocoa butter; DeJaFru, makers of pineapple, mango, guava, coconut, june plum sorbet; and haircare, body care and skincare producer Ettenio.

Also recognised were Shavuot Int’l Holdings Company Ltd, producer of moringa tea and powder and scotch bonnet powder; Tritronic Electronics Ltd, makers of digital surge protectors; Turner Innovations Ltd, inventor of sorrel harvesting machine and producers of dried sorrel; and Umium — former
Jamaica Observer ‘Mogul in the Making’ contestant – manufacturers of coconut chocolate spread, coconut almond spread.

Speaking at the function, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen acclaimed the awardees’ work as a collective expression of faith, perseverance, passion and belief in Jamaica.

“Many people believe in Jamaica and it shows in different ways. You were bold enough to push forward, remembering the mantra that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again.”

He also commended chairman of Continental Baking Company, operator of National Bakery, Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson for his confidence in the Bold Ones of Manufacturing marketing initiative and the optimism it has given Jamaican entrepreneurs.
